Yampa, CO Yampa Stillwater Ranch is only 4 miles from the small community of Yampa. The ranch is ideally set up as a summer livestock operation. Hay production is very good on the 80+/- acres of irrigated meadows. An additional 120+/- acres are sub-irrigated pastures. The water rights on the ranch are excellent and increase the ranch’s carrying capacity. In addition to the livestock, the ranch is attractive to elk and deer. With the lush grass pastures and the cool, northeast facing slope at the south end of the ranch, elk hunting is very good.
The ranch is located in the Vail-Steamboat corridor. It is approximately half way between the two ski resorts; about 45 minutes from either destination. Yampa is just a few minutes away and is home to a hotel, restaurant, convenience store/fuel stop, small grocery, library and an elementary school. 10 miles north of Yampa is Oak Creek, with a few restaurants, grocery store, and the South Routt school district. The Yampa Valley Regional Airport is within an hour of the ranch. The airport has excellent service to Denver with summer and winter direct flights to several cities around the nation. National Forest lands dominate this part of the county and access to two National Forests is a short drive from the ranch.
The ranch is located in GMU 26. Over-the-counter elk licenses are available during archery and 2nd and 3rd rifle seasons. The cover on the south end of the ranch, plus the stock tanks and sub-irrigated land attract elk and deer. Deer hunting is draw only with good chances for drawing on a first or second year application. Bear tags are also easily obtainable as are the chances of harvest. Colorado wildlife is actively managed and this area has ample habitat to support an abundance of animals.
Situated in one of Colorado’s most scenic areas, Yampa Stillwater Ranch is ideal for summer grazing and year-round recreation.
